| I flew out to pick up my car myself. |
I got a quote to get my car moved from West Virginia to Utah for $914 from Red Carpet Auto Transport. It was one of the best quotes I got, so I took it.
The order was placed on June 26 2008.
After a week, I gave them a call to see what the progress was with finding a truck to move my car. They didn't have one yet, but it they reminded me that it does take 1-10 days on average to find a truck. So I called the week after on July 9th, still no truck yet.
Becky was always very kind, and did what they could to try to find a truck. She explained that it was hard to find a trucker going from WV to UT and that things were tough with high gas prices. So we tried a number of things, such as reposting the request and even offering to have me meet the truckers in Salt Lake City if that was better for them and on their route.
Each time I called, they would report that no truck was found.
Finally on July 21, almost a month after I had originally placed my order, I decided it would be easier for me to take time off of work and just to fly out and pick up the car myself. So that's what I did.
Through it all, Becky was always very nice whenever I called and I appreciate that. The two things that I didn't like were
1. I always had to initiate the conversations. I never received a call from them and after the first 10 days, even just a call to say "Hey we haven't found one yet, but we haven't forgotten you either" would have been nice.
2. They couldn't pull through with getting a truck. I understand that not all cars are moved in the 1-10 days average, but after 25 days I'd think that a company could pull it off.

We are very sorry we could not get your vehicle moved. We do not own the trucks and have no way of forcing a truck to take a load. WV to UT is about as difficult as it gets and with so many trucks (approx. 35-40%) not hauling auto due to gas prices it is even harder. We called truck after truck and none of them wanted this load.
As for the communication? Well it states that we DO NOT call the customer everyday as our time is spent calling trucks so we can find them for our customers in a timely manner. We do however state you are more than welcome to call us anytime for an update. If we call each of our customers to give them updates we would never have the time to call the trucks to accomplish what they hired us for in the first place. We have a toll-free number available to all so the call is always on us.
We really do apologize for not being able to get your vehicle moved for you. Unfortunately it really was out of our control. As Becky's manager I can tell you that had she been able to she would have gone and picked it up and delivered it herself just to make her customer happy.
